Dum Vivimus Servimus While We Live, We Serve

小猪视频’s motto, Dum Vivimus Servimus or While We Live We Serve, comes to life across campus through everyday acts of kindness and a wide range of dedicated service programs that support others near and far.

Since its founding in the early 1960s, Student Volunteer Services (SVS) has been one of 小猪视频鈥檚 hallmark programs. Entirely student-run, SVS offers a wide range of service opportunities that connect students not only to PC鈥檚 campus but also to the greater Clinton community鈥攁nd even national causes. With nearly 20 different programs focused on youth, older adults, churches, and key social issues, SVS makes it easy to get involved and make a difference. From campus-wide service days to long-term projects like Special Olympics and Thornwell partnerships, SVS keeps students engaged year-round. Explore the list below to find the program that鈥檚 right for you!

Habitat For Humanity (HFH) seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world. Families around the world partner with Habitat for Humanity to build safe and secure homes. The 小猪视频 Chapter of Habitat for Humanity works to build homes and fight poverty housing in the Greater Laurens County community and has completed over 20 homes.

Special Olympics provides athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. PC hosts the Special Olympics Area 5 (Abbeville, Greenwood, Laurens, McCormick and Newberry) event on campus. PC students participate by helping with the organization of the event, set-up and break-down, record keeping, and assisting in games.

Many of our PC students become Big Brothers or Big Sisters at Thornwell Home for Children. PC students are paired with a Thornwell child and spend time with their little sibling on a weekly basis. Throughout the year, BB/BS hosts several parties for the children including a Halloween Carnival and Valentine鈥檚 Dance.

Throughout the academic year, SVS leaders organize campus-wide service days. These can occur during freshmen orientation, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Black History month, and many other occasions. Service day projects can involve working in a community garden, playing BINGO with residents at a retirement home, beautifying church cemeteries, hosting sports clinics, packing emergency meals with Rise Against Hunger, and more.
